Media Square is aware of its responsibilities to its people and the wider communities that it engages with.

Diversity and equal opportunities

A diverse and open workforce is vital to the creative sectors in which we work. As such, equal opportunity, tolerance and diversity are principles that guide the development of teams across the operating companies withing the group.

We are sympathetic to requests for flexible working solutions and are committed to establishing HR practices and policies that befit a forward-looking organisation such as ours.

Our people

We reflect the fact that talent is the heartbeat of our business through a commitment to recruiting, developing and retaining the very best people.

Employees are encouraged to pick up new skills through both internal and external training programmes, which are developed by each business unit.

Internal communications is recognised as key to the success of people-oriented businesses and is an area in which Media Square has made a considerable investment.  All employees receive a copy of the staff magazine, Circle, on a quarterly basis.

Circle champions people from around the group and encourages inter-group collaboration.  It is supplemented by the monthly bulletin, Circle Online, and ad hoc email communications from the senior management team.

Senior executives receive weekly updates from the board on commercial and operational matters.  All group businesses regularly brief key items of group and local news to their people.

We also undertake periodic employee satisfaction surveys and invite continuous feedback.

Health and safety

The company has employees in a wide variety of roles and, while the creative industry is generally considered to be low risk, a proportion of Media Square’s people are involved in production and manufacturing activity.

Driven by the Board of Directors, Media Square has well-established health and safety practices and procedures.

The company health and safety policy document sets out Media Square’s statement of intent, its organisation and responsibilities, general arrangements and safe systems of work.

Suppliers

We recognise the importance of good, long-term relationships with suppliers to the effective operation of our business.  In March 2006 we appointed a head of procurement to manage the group’s interaction with major suppliers.  We expect to be able to report further progress in this area.
